MARKED STIFFENING

(Times Cables.) Received September 23, 1.20 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 22. The Times city editor says that war risk insurance rates are stiffening. Voyages to Australia, via Suez, arcquoted at 6s 3d per cent and via tlie Cape 3s 4d per cent. Shipments to the Mediterranean and Red Sea are quoted at 5s per cent. The rates apply to early voyages and are considerably higher for. more remote dates, the market preferring not to quote too far ahead.
