SETTLEMENT OF ASSYRIANS.

BRITAIN TO HELP. (British Official Wireless.) Received September 16, 10.510 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 13. It has been announced at Geneva that the British Government will make an independent contribution, apart from the British share in any contribution the League of Nations may make, towards a settlement of the Iraqi Assyrians in a region in Syria, provided the scheme of settlement is sound in every way. j The size of the contribution will depend on the amount the Iraqi Government, which has been asked by League to increase its offer of £125,000, is prepared to pay, and other factors. But in any case the contribution will not exceed a maximum of £125,000.
