PERSONAL.

Mr C. M. Wheeler, 8.E., A.M. Inst., C.E. and a member of the New Zealand Society, who lias been engineering assistant with the Public Works Department at Palmerston North, has resigned from the service in order to take up a position with a Wellington firm.

The staff of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Tourist and Publicity met on Friday at afternoon tea to farewell Mr G. W. Clinkard, who will leave shortly to take up the position of trade and tourist commissioner to Europe. A presentation of a clock mounted in greenstone and New Zealand woods, was made to Mr Clinkard, and Mrs Clinkard received a set of silver spoons with inlaid pawa shell handies.
