BRADY ACQUITTED.
ON MURDER CHARGE. ARREST ON MINOR CHARGE. SYDNEY, Sept. 10. Prior to the Judge’s direction to the jury, Mr Evatt (for Brady) had submitted that the Crown was in no better position than at the opening ot the Crown Prosecutor’s case yesterday. The Crown Prosecutor directed the Judge’s attention to certain aspects of the evidence, and to a statement alleged to have been made by Brady to directives which the Court had admitted. Mr Justice Jordan said: No doubt there is plenty of matter for suspicion in the evidence, but the clear opinion I have formed is that upon certain principles a conviction upon that evidence cannot be allowed to stand. He accordingly directed the jury to acquit Brady, who leit the Court in the company of his counsel. Brady was re-arrested outside the Court* on a provisional warrant allegedly for having failed to answer a charge of forgery at Hobart. BAIL OF £IOOO. Received September 11, 10 a.m. SYDNEY. Sept. 10. Patrick Brady was charged at the Darlinghurst Police Station with having forged at Hobart a money order oiT the Bank of New South Wales for £4OO between January ‘2l and 23 last. Bail was fixed at £IOOO.
