MEMBER D.S.C. MOVEMENT AND PROUD TO BE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Would you kindly grant me a little space to make a few comments on the Douglas Credit meeting or convention, held on Sunday, 7th inst. Colonel Closey said, “If you can make Manawatu money-wise you have got New Zealand, for we have already got the cities.” It was also stated at that gathering that they were not putting any candidate in the field. Well, if they have got New Zealand converted, except Manawatu, why withhold the candidates?
Again, if Major Douglas has solved the tangle, why call on tho King to institute an enquiry with tho ohject of tho abolition of poverty, when we all know that the Royal Family is doing its best in that direction, especially H.R.H. the Prince of Wales? I believe that the holding of this meeting in Palmerston North’was for one purpose only; to obtain the attitude of the electors toward Douglas Credit. If they were found enthusiastic, Mr A. E. Mansford could fight tho election on Douglas Credit. If not, he would have to carry on as an Independent, for he expressed his desire that New Zealand would follow the example of Alberta, being better situated for social credit because of its insularity. I wonder if “Elector” was at that meeting and, if he was, what he thought of it. If he is the intelligent person lie claims to be, I think his services will be at the disposal of either the other two candidates before the election is over.—l am, etc., WORKER.
