WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

Trading was dull on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, the eight sales recorded being the smallest turnover for some time. The markets continued . quiet, prices showing little movement. _ Government loans were firm, buyers raising their bids 5s for the 4 per cents., 1946 and 1949. which were quoted at £lO6 15s and £lO9 15s, respectively. The 3j- per cent, stock, 1938-52, sold at £lO9. Bank shares showed little quotable change. There was a fairly good inquiry for pastoral and financial issues, Dalgety moving up to £8 10s, and sellers asking £8 11s. South British Insurance were Is up at 935. Gear Meat were done at 21s 6d, and Renown Colliery at 9s Bd. Breweries were dull and unchanged. Broken Hill Proprietary improved 3d on two sales at 66s 9d. Australian Iron and Steel preference were firm at 255. Procora Bread were Is down at 325. There were two sales of G. J. Coles at 67s 6d. Gold mining issues were very dull. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
