OBITUARY
MR AATLLIAM HENRY AVEBB. The death occurred on Monday after a brief illness of Mr AVilliam Henry AVebb, of No. 42 Main Street AVest, his end being hastened by tlie effects of his war experiences. Born at Nelson 50 years ago, lie was a son of Mrs and the late Mr Albert AVebb. As a young man of 20 lie came to the North island and when resident in Palmerston North he was a prominent member of the Kia Toa Rugby Club, while he also played hockey with the Campbell Street Old Boys’ Club. On the outbreak of tlie Ureat AVar lie was living at Hawera, and he. enlisted for service with the Queen Alexandra’s Own Regiment as a trooper in the Wellington Mounted Rifles, proceeding overseas with the Second Reinforcements. After seeing service on Gallipoli he was invalided back to New Zealand, but later again proceeded overseas, being severely gassed on the second occasion. Although of powerful build, the effect of the gassing told against him when he was taken ill with double pneumonia, and he passed away alter being an inmate of hospital lor a week. It was following upon his return horn the war that he married Miss May Petersen, of Palmerston North, and there are left to mourn their loss his widow (uid one child. He is also survived by ins mother, one brother, Mr A. AA’cbb, of Wanganui, and one sister, All’s H. Bovis, of Palmerston North. The funeral took place this afternoon at the Palmerston North cemetery when Rev. Canon G. Y. AVoodward conducted the service.
