WRECKER’S HANDICAP

NOT AFFECTED BY DEAD HEAT

HANDICAPPER’S VIEW

Per Press Association

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 11. When Wrecker dead-heated for first place in the Metropolitan Handicap at the benefit trotting meeting, it was assumed he would receive the customary penalty of 12vds., which would place him on 4min. 27see., and he would thus become eligible to compete in the next New Zealand Trotting Cup; but the handicapper (Mr G. Paul, jtinr.) has taken into account the small amount of stake money that AVrecker and Roy Spec earned through their dead heat, and as the money is equivalent only to a second prize in races in which AVrecker usually competes, and for which he cannot be penalised, Mr Paul has considered it prudent not to penalise either AA’reeker or Rev Spec.

The amount of the prize monev for the Metropolitan Handicap was £2OO, of which £2O went to the third horse, thus leaving £IBO to be divided between AVrecker and Rey Spec.
