OPERATIC SOCIETY.

During the week-end the city was visited by Mr Gordon Mcßeth, who is the musical director for the Wanganui Operatic and Dramatic Society, which position he has held for the past twenty years. Mr Meßeth is a well-known composer of music, having composed the entire score for the musical comedy, “Moonflower,” which was produced so successfully in AVanganui three years ago. Mr Mcßeth this year has had a great honour conferred upon him by being presented with the Bledisloe Cup, this being a trophy donated by Lord Bledisloe for competition amongst all New Zealanders for a musical composition. During his stay in Palmerston North Mr' Mcßeth was an interested spectator of one of the reheat sals of “Sally ” which is being staged ill Palmerston North by the local amateurs at the end of the month and which is being produced by Mr Hanson Cook, ot Wellington.
