At a special meeting of the ranga County Council, to-day, the necessary machinery motions were passed to allow the council to proceed with the conversion of loans totalling £88,245. , , x xl The amounts to be converted to the lower rate of interest were set out in two schedules, the first sum being £80,185 and the second £BO6O. Of the first amount £BOOO is held by individuals, £25,230 by the Public Trust Office and the remainder by the Mortgage Corporation. Cr D. Collis, chairman of the council, presided, other members present being Crs. Jos. Batchelar, W. G. Shannon, A. W. Hamlin, F. J. Russell, W. It, Hopcroft and J. Smith.
