■ COMMUNITY SING. _ The community sing and concert given in the Majestic Theatre, last night in furtherance of the Town queen’s candidature in the Hockey Association’s queen carnival, proved very enjoyable. Mr L. Wood, the song leader, was in his best form and kept the audience well amused with His drolleries. Mr A. E. Palmer was at the piano and the singing was lustily entered into by a large audience. The assisting artists were Mr R. A. Levy (tenor), Miss Salter (soprano), •Mr C. Simmons (instrumental), Mr B. Cummings (novelty songs) and Mr C. Stuart (tenor). Miss Cummings was accompaniste. All of the entertainers were recalled, and Mr Stuart’s rendering of Irish songs was particularly pleasing to the audience. Mr Cummings’s novelty items included the singing of “Old Faithful” in appropriate costume and make up, accompanied by a real “horse.” This he finally mounted and, booted and spurred, rode off, the inability of the “horse” to safely negotiate the journey off-stage causing immense enjoyment. At the conclusion of the programme -Mr F. J. Allen thanked all those who had assisted in the entertainment, and the public for the generous support given.
