MELBOURNE, Aug. 30. Eliminating two British plavers, Miss Mona McLeod and Mrs bioan Morpeth won their way to-day to the quarter-finals in the women’s golf championship of Australia, boating Miss Anderson, leader of tho qualifiers, and Miss Wade. Miss McLeod gained her victory over Miss Anderson by splendid golf, but won oniy on the eighteenth green. Superior putting enabled Mrs Morpeth to beat Miss Wade. Miss Barton won at tlie fourteenth from Miss Hood-Hamtnond (New South Wales). Scores are: Mrs Yuille (New South Wales) beat Miss Manic (New South Wales), I up. Mrs McKay heat Miss Bymil (South Australia), at the nineteenth. Miss McLeod beat -Miss Anderson, 1 UP Mrs Morpeth beat Miss Wade, 2 up. Mrs Walker (Britain) beat Miss Keis not (Victoria), 5 and 4. Mrs Greenlees (Britain) beat Miss Gardiner (Queensland), 5 ami 3. Miss Barton beat Miss Hood-Hum-mond, 5 and 4. ... Miss Nankivell (Victoria) beat Miss Fraser at tho twenty-first. V. S. Richardson (New South Wales) heat H. Boorcr (Victoria), 2 and 1, over 36 holes in the final of the professional golf championship of Australia at Seaton to-day. Plav was uninspiring and patchy in the morning round, but exciting after lunch. The players were all square at the twenty-eighth.
