The Manawatu and West Coast A. & P. Association is celebrating its fiftieth birthday this year, and on November 7th, Bth and 9th next will stage the Golden Jubilee Spring Show. Stock will be judged on Thursday, November 7th, and the Grand Parade will be held on Peoples’ Day, Friday, November Bth. Saturday, November 9th, has been reserved for a special programme of attractions in the Oval in the nature of a Rodeo. Stock will be free to return home on the Friday evening. This new arrangement of the time-table has been made practicable by the co-operation of the business people of Palmerston North in having the mid-week half holiday changed from Wednesday to Friday. Thus, farmers and business people alike will be enabled to see a Grand Parade which promises to be the most memorable in the history of the Association. The Golden Jubilee Spring Show, coming as it does, only a fortnight after the Royal Show at Hastings, provides an excellent opportunity for the many breeders who will be travelling long distances to exhibit their stock at Palmerston North on their way home. Accommodation for stock between the Shows cam be arranged. The central position and excellent railway facilities serving Palmerston North make it possible for exhibitors to pen their entries cheaply, expeditiously and safely. The prize monies and trophies distributed at this big Show in 1934 amounted to over £1,250. With the addition of many handsome prizes for straight-out wins on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee the Prize List should command the attention of all breeders and horsemen. A feature of Manawatu Spring Shows is the amazing extent of the Industrial Exhibition which is held day and night throughout the duration of the Show. A big proportion of the space in the spacious Machinery Halls has already been reserved for trade exhibits and a Motor Olympia. Two large halls will be filled with Home Industries, Wool Section and Schools Section. Free vaudeville entertainment in the evenings will be a feature of the Show. All particulars concerning Schedules or industrial exhibits are obtainable from the Secretary, Box 85, Palmerston North.
