SNOW AT FITZHERBERT
A WINTRY TOUCH. Snow, accompanied by bail, fell on the higher bills at Fitzherbert this afternoon, following a severely cold night. A resident of Forest Hill Road, Aokautcrc, about hallway to the top of the range, stated in an interview by telephone that the snow had settled in a mantle from that point upwards. Jt appeared to be of some depth on the higher levels, and the sky was still very threatening.-SOUTH-WEST WEATHER. COLD AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 31. South-westerly weather, with heavy showers and sleet, swept the city this morning, affecting the attendances at the charity trotting meeting and the Kanfurly bhield Rugby match. Owing to heavy rain and sleet showers, the local Rugby and soccer matches have been postponed.
