Major changes are shown this week in the. items on the liabilities side. Government deposits at £10,977.917 show a decrease of £133,683. Other demand liabilities show a decrease of £228,234, the item now standing at £180,578. These reductions largely correspond to an increase of £369,195 in trading banks’ deposits, which have risen to £4,472,259. Notes issued total £8,769,362, a decrease of £10,690. Other liabilities at £63,530 show a small increase of £5Ol. On the assets side, gold at £2.501,732 10s and investments at £2,102,858 11s 5d show no change. Sterling exchange totals £20,813,691, an increase of £S7O. Subsidiary coin at £222,110 shows a decrease of £916, and other, assets at £23,254 are lower by £2865. i The statement balances at £25,964,- j 647 Is 9d, an increase of £2910 17s.
