(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Aug. 29. The week-end match with the Seafield Golf Club has been postponed to a date to be arranged later. Air Leslie 11 ill i er, a popular member of the staff of the local Rost Office, who is being transferred to AAellington, was tendered a farewell social by bis many friends in the Town Hall. Air C. 11. Edwards (piano) and Air I l ' .Prentice (piano and acconleon) supplied tho music, and dancing was kept up until midnight. Air Prentice also danced an Irish jig. Alessrs E. K. Lukcy and J. G. Scholfield, the barrowmen, were invited to attend, and when they appeared they were greeted with applause. During an interval, Air J. E. AA’alkcr, chairman of the Town Board, spoke on behalf of the telephone subscribers, and presented Air Hiliier with a token of their esteem. Air Walker said that Air llillier bad always been most prompt and courteous, and all regretted bis leaving, but wished him continued success in his now sphere. Air F. A. Holland, a number of the Town Board, also added bis praise cf the capable manner in which Air Llillier had carried out his duties, and congratulated him on his well-earned promotion, at the. same time adding a tribute to Air Uillicr's many tine qualities, one of the greatest being his unremitting care of bis parents. Air Hillicr, in reply, said that, lie had only dono bis duty to the best, of bis ability, lie thanked subscribers for their kind gift, and liis friends for a very pleasant evening. Accompanying the gilt envelope was a testimonial to Air Hillicr, signed by the chairman and a commissioner of the Town Board. The ladies provided supper. Airs and Miss True, of Alarton, arc staying with Airs AI. G. Gould during Air Gould’s absence at the golf tournament in Rotorua. Airs T. Breen, of AVanganui, is the guest of Airs (’. Flower, and Airs G. Diamond, Ongaonga, is on a visit to Aliss . Broughton. Alt's J. Dwyer’s guests include her brother. Air B. Armstrong, of AA'anganui; a daughter, Aliss Al. Dwyer, AA’anganui; a son, Air J. Dwyer, junr., of East Cape; and Miss Coutts, of Patamaltoc. Air Dwyer, junr., has recently been appointed to a school at Alikitniki, near Alast.erton. Air Ngaio Amon qualified for the golf championship at Rotorua, but was afterwards eliminated, and is now taking part (with Air AI. C. Gould) in tho handicap competition.
