RUMOUR DENIED.
CORPORATION BOND ISSUE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 29. A rumour, originating at Wellington, that the issue of £500,000 3? per cent debentures now being offered for public subscription by the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand had already been fully subscribed was referred to by the chairman of the Dunedin Stock Exchange, Air Harman Reeves, at this morning’s meeting. This rumour, he said, was without any foundation, as it was not yet possible to say bow the issue would be subscribed for by investors. As applications were made from all parts of the. Dominion, it was confidently expected that the issue would be fully applied for, and he understood smaller applicants were to receive allotment in full. Mr Reeves also mentioned that al-
though some people might consider tha rate of interest, 3J per cent, fairly low, it would interest members to know that a day or two ago the Dunedin Citv Corporation had arranged a loan of £50,000 at 3i per cent, which was i per cent less interest than the bond issue now offered for subscription by the Mortgage Corporation.
