THE CHURCH ARMY.
ESTABLISHMENT IN DOMINION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 30. One of the decisions reached by the standing committee of the Anglican General Synod this week was to form a Church Army in New Zealand. The object is to provide evangelists and mission sisters to assist tlie clergy in the evangelising work of the Church. Trained workers will be provided for caravan parochial mission and social work. Twelve representatives of the Church Army in England have been in New Zealand for the past two and ulialf years. One of those is Captain S. R. Banyanl, who will he remaining in the Dominion, and he has been appointed by the standing committee of the General Synod to be the director of operations. He will be known as the field secretary. The permanent Church Army in New Zealand \viH come into being on the first Monday" in November. The offer of a house in Auckland has been accepted as temporary, headquarters until more central headquarters can be established. A small executive committee is to he appointed by the 'rchbishop in Auckland, and the Bishops in the other co-operating dioceses are each to he asked to appoint a corresponding member of the committee. Before next August a central board of control is to be appointed from the co operating dioceses and in each cooperating diocese a small board of control is to be appointed to work under the central bo. rd.
