DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 28. A return match was played at Woodville during the week-end, between teams from the Tnpuata and Woodville Ladies’ Golf Clubs, resulting m a win for Tnpuata. Mrs Freilericksen thanked the Woodville players for the very pleasant afternoon, and Miss Skinner replied on behalf of Woodville. hollowing are the results, Woodville players being mentioned first: — Miss E. Peebles lost to Mrs Nash, Miss Goodwin heat Mrs Cole, Miss L. Peebles lost to Mrs Mere wether, Airs E. Wilson lost to Miss Campbell, Mrs J. Peebles beat Miss Hogwood, Miss M. Redwood lost to Miss O’Callaghan. Miss Grinlinton lost to Airs Goode, Aliss Skinner lost to Airs Freilericksen, Airs Noble lost to Aliss G. Bingham. This morning the Runhine-Danne-virke women’s hockey representatives departed for Gisborne. Fifteen _ players, a manager (Air G. P. A\ right) and chaperone (Airs J. Dobson) comprise the party. The Akitio representatives have also left for Gisborne. At the usual fortnightly meeting of Kin Ora Lodge, No. 94, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., the N.G., Bro. W. Afarlow, presided. Two members were reported on the sick funds and the necessary sick pay was passed. The quarterly and half-yearly returns were presented by the acting-secretary and were adopted. The card captain reported on the friendly societies’ tournament, Kia Ora being in second place. At a meeting of the general committee of the Dannevirke Horticultural and Industrial Society the president (Air J. Goldie Anderson) presiding, a discussion took place regarding the position of the society r lhe chairman showed by a comparison of various items in the balance-sheets of recent years that it was more than holding its own, hut that in common with other organisations considerable difficulty was being experienced in keeping the subscriptions of members up to date. This must be thoroughly gone into by tho incoming committee. Regarding the position of secretary, rendered vacant by the resignation of All' L. Schmidt, a small subcommittoe was appointed to inteiiicvv a business man who is also an enthusiastic member of the society in reference to taking up this appointment. Several new members were elected.
