MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE,
A meeting of the management cornmittee of the Manawatu football Association was held on Monday evening* Mr J<\ W. Ivey presiding. Also present were Messrs A. H. Hesketh, R. E. Kempson, .and J. B. Smillie (secretary). There were apologies for absence lor Messrs Downes, Childs, Baldwin, Lvon, Dick, and Kempson. "Mr Hesketh reported that in the Athletic-Te Awe Awe senior match on Saturday lie liad had occasion to oidei off Jeromson and Cummings (Athletic), and had called the m?tcli off. It was decided to suspend both players for the remainder ol the season, and award the match (in which there was no score to the time of its being concluded) to Te Awe Awe. . , The minor division of tlie Auckland Football Association wrote inquiring it a match could be arranged in Palmeiston North tor the team in the Flyger Rose Bowl competition, passing through on Thursday.—Owing to the impossibility of staging a midweek match, and many of the boys being absent, it was decided that the match could not be arranged. . .. Mr Kempson requested instructions relative to the holding of the 1936 primary schools’ tournament in I almerston North. It was stated that it was Manawatu’s turn to be the venue of the tourney, and a great deal oi stress was laid on the fact that accommodation would have to be found for about 64 bovs.—lt was decided that, if it be the desire of the other primary schools, an effort be made to conduct the series at this centre. Jt was decided that the senior league competition series conclude on Saturdav next and that entries (closing on. September 2) be called for the “knockout” competition matches, to commence on September 7. There will be no fifth and primary grade matches on Saturday, but the fourth grade will be further advanced.
SECONDARY TOURNAMENT
MANAWATU BEATEN
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 28. The North Island secondary schools soccer tournament was commenced today. The Auckland senior representatives beat Manawatu in a hard game bv 6 goals to 3. Scorers for Auckland were McDonald (3), Haydon (2) and McLachlan, while Stewart (2) and Nicholls scored for the losers. In the junior games, Hawke’s Bayheat Wellington by 3 goals to nil, and Wanganui beat Manawatu by 4 goals to 1.
