Rain again curtailed some of the matches in the county cricket series. T'he bowlers were definitely superior and tho batsmen had little opportunity to display their prowess. Willard, Somerset’s prolific scorer, made 112 against Lancashire. Bull, the former Kent man, compiled 118 for Worcester against Warwick.

Essex bowlers played havoc with Glamorgan. Nichols had 7 for 15 to his credit and Eastman 3 for 7. A. Rope, Derby’s last-medium trundler, took 5 lor 35 and 5 lor 42 in tho match with Hampshire. llearne, a relative of the former Middlesex and England bowler, J. T. Hearne, took 4 for 11 for Middlesex against Kent. Grey captured 0 for 32.

Verity (Yorkshire) maintained his prestige by taking 6 Surrey wickets tor 24 runs. Larwood secured 4 for 47 and Voce 4 for 37 for Notts against Gloucester.
