BASKETBALL

The following basketball team left to-day to represent Manawatu in the New Zealand tournament being held at AA’ellington this week Forwards: L. Karauti, E. AlacDonald, P. Payne, J. Clevely; centres, J. Barrie, J. Jacobs, B. Culpan, L. Lumsden; defence, AT. AlacDonald, R. Penketh, N. O’Donnell, L. Carson. Aliss C. Vautier accompanied the team as team managaress.

TOURNAMENT CONTROL. Per Press Association. AA’ELLINGTON, Aug. 27. The organisation of basketball control was decided at tho annual conference of delegates of associations affiliated to the New Zealand Basketball Association. Tt was decided that for the purposes of the annual tournament the territory he divided into the following districts: —North Auckland. Auckland. AA’aikato, Rotorua-Bay of Plenty. Poverty Bay, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki. AA’ellington. Alarlborough, Nelson, AVest Coast-Buller, Canterbury, Otago, Southland. Representation at the tournament was defined and several alterations made in the rules. Next year’s tournament was allotted to Canterbury.
