UMUTOI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) UMUTOI, A up. 26. A meeting of the residents of the Utnutoi district was hold in the schoolroom last week. Mr Dormer, chairman of the Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board, presided and associated with him were Messrs MeKav and Mason, members of the hoard, and Mr Donaldson, assistant engineer. Mr Dormer briefly outlined the business before the meeting, which was to consider the reticulation of the district. He explained the policy of the hoard and said that if the required guarantee was found tho work could lie commenced immediately. He then called on Mr Donaldson to give a detailed estimate of the cost. Mr Donaldson answered many questions relevant to the business and a discussion ensued, those present considering the estimate was unduly high. At the conclusion of a lengthy meeting. Mr McKenzie proposed a vote of thanks to the visitors, and stated that he was sure that the position had been made much clearer. The vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Mr Donaldson promised to give further estimates for a modified scheme at an early date.
