SYDNEY TO OSAKA

KINGS FORD SMITH’S FLIGHT,

Sir Charles Ivingsford Smith, in a long-distance radio telephone interview, declared that he expected his flight from Sydney to Osaka in the Lady Southern Cross next February would take about six days (says a 'L'okio message). The Tokio newspaper Nielii-Nichi telephoned Sir Charles at Los Angeles, and featured the interview and details of the projected flight. For this flight, it is understood, Sir Charles will convert the body of his aeroplane for a carrying load of footpassengers and baggage. In its present construction this single-engine machine', which can attain 200 miles an hour, accommodates two people only. It will be more than the usual goodwill flight. Sir Charley has ambitions of permanently linking Australia with Japan on a commercial air route.
