NOTES.

The oroua electoral roll has been completed with a total of 8639 names thereon, compared with 8864 on the main roll in 1931—a decrease of 225. The compilation of the supplementary roll is now proceeding. Two street lamps which attracted a considerable amount of attention in Feilding on Saturday night were the 100-watt sodium vapour type which were placed in use on trial for the first time. The power of illumination over the present lamps of the same voltage was very evident, and their practical value is added to by the increased lighting being available at the same power consumption. The new bank of transformers at the junction of Gladstone and Haybit tie Streets were installed, yesterday afternoon, by the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board’s linesmen. The local power was cut off for about four hours to enable the change over to the 1000 k.v.a. transformers to be made.
