AORANGI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AORANGI, Aug.' 25. The first of the local Ping Pong Club’s return matches was played last night, when six players journeyed to Mukino and engaged the Makino players in games. As beiorc, the match was arranged by the 1 secretaries, Messrs D. Durio (Aorangi) and M. Laing (Makino). The match proved to be the closest one that both clubs have played this season, the teams being well match, and the result was a draw, 18-all. On behalf of the Makino players, Mr It. Petersen welcomed the visiting team, and thanked them for attending. He also expressed pleasure with the good games that i had been witnessed and hoped that next season would see some more matches played between them. Replying, Mr D. Duric thanked the Makino players for the very enjoyablo sport, congratulated them on the good fight they had put up, and reminded them that when the other match-was play'ed at Aorangi the local players won by a i fair margin. The boisterous weather conditions prevalent in this district lately have greatly affected dairy farmers, many losing cows of considerable value, and the decrease in the quantity of milk has been very noticeable the last few days. Sheep farmers have also been seriously affected by the loss of lambs. A dance is to bo held in the near future for the .Maori Mission funds.
