FREE STATE’S ATTITUDE. MILITARY OPERATIONS CONTINUE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 23, 12.50 p.m. LONDON. Aug. 22. In connection with the Abyssinian dispute, the only Dominion reaction comes from Mr Do Valera, who denies the report that Mr Dulanty (the Free Stute’s High Commissioner) assured Cabinet that Ireland would support its decisions. Mr De Valera says the Free State will take independent decisions on each point. Its attitude will be determined bv Ireland’s desire to see that the League is preserved as an effective guarantee of pence. The Free State fully sympathise with any effort to prevent hostilities. The markets were heartened by the Cabinet members’ decision to resume their holidays and finished with a better tone. The Times Alexandria correspondent says that heavy selling on the part of Italian residents in Egypt seeking to transfer their holdings to Switzerland snd elsewhere has created such a grave situation that the Minister of Finance is taking steps to limit the daily movement of prices. The Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent says that, while the Cabinet discussions are being closely watched by Italy., authoritative sources decline to coininenj. Military preparations, however, have been pushed on unceasingly. The aircraft carrier Meraglia has sailed from Naples, carrying five bombers, fie reconnaissance ’planes, and 82 pilots. The first Hebrew merchant vessel, the four-masted sailing ship Sara, of 800 tons, was blessed to-dav as the nucleus of a Zionist navy under Italian auspices.
