CORPORAL PUNISHMENT.
COMPLAINTS IN SOUTH,

DUNEDIN, Aug. 22. Increasing complaints of corporal punishment in schools was discussed by the Education Board this morning, members reiterating strong disapproval of such punishment as an aid to teaching.
It was resolved to send a memorandum to all schools and also appoint a committee to redraft tho by-law on the subject. One member stated that lie had received more complaints in tho last year or so than ever before, which might arise from the changed attitude of parents. The chairman (Mr Wallace): In the old days when I got a licking dad said I should have received moro than I got.
