WHEELBARROW RACE.
The wheelbarrow race commences tomorrow at 2.30 p.in. from the hand rotunda. The activity in the \.\\.L.A. ranks is feverish. The Mayor, who will hold the reins on their behalf, is sharpening his spurs, while his team-mates are being overwhelmed with oilers to help them get fit. Enquiries mado around the retailers' camp indicate great optimism regarding the ability of Mr Hqdgens to negotiate the bend and bring us barrow home victorious. The Y.M.C.A. barrow under the guidance of Mr Aitchisou, must be regarded as a potential winner. .1 he mist surrounding Massey Co lege prevents us learning anything of the -'U»tciy Queen’s form but it is understood the mam have turned several paddocks over Sg the week-end just to be fit; they arc" now turning them back again. A broadcast of the race will be gm.m by Mr H E. Bennett from tho lotuniia. The patrons of the course arc asked to ■tome early as an opportunity “ given to see tho form of the contestants ouforehaud.
