WHEELBARROW DERBY.
Tho works of a wheelbarrow are on a simplo scale, but as a conveyance it finds its place in all walks of life. On Saturday next, however, it appears in a “running” event and will bo the resting place for a brief period of some of our most respected citizens. Tho City Council have kindly lent somo of their later models—streamlined with steel bodies ar.*l freo wheeks-and clover demonstrators will bo able to show tho performances of these works of art. Finger-tip control is featured, and every harrow has .been tested by the Manawatu Automobile Club’s officials The race starts from the band rotunda at 2 o clock and proceeds to Cuba Street, finishing in the oval at the Showgrounds. Tho ambulance officials will render first aid to any paseengers requiring same. _
