EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD. AUGUST 21, 1905.

At llie annual meeting of die AshhurstPohangina Racing Chib it had been agreed to pay out sixpences where dividends included tins figure and to donate fractional parts of sixpences to the Palmerston North Hospital. A local committee had been formed in Palmerston North for Trinity College, London.

A Civil Service Co-operative Association, with a capital of £19,000, was being formed in Wellington. The Ashhurst-l’ohangina Racing Club bad 144 members, 127 being financial. The excess of assets over liabilities was stated to be £2185 15s.

The New Zealand horse Alachino Gun had won the Company Handicap, carrying lOst 61b, at Tattcrsall’s Races in Sydney. Arnst, the New Zealand racing cyclist, had met with a bad accident in the Bathurst to Ashficld road race in Australia.
