LONDON. Aug. 1

Tho Government has taken a new stop to facilitate ihe production of munitions by increasing the import duty on nitrates as it was feared that dumping would endanger the existence of British factories.

Tt is recalled that the Germans manufactured synthetic nitrogen from the air before the war and surrendered the formula to Britain under tho Versailles Treaty.
