RAILWAY CRASH

REPORT FOR BOARD. Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Aug. 1. The departmental inquiry into the railway accident at Poro-O-Tarno on Tuesday, when tlie driver and fireman of a train were apparently overcome by smoke and fumes in the tunnel, has been held. The members of the inquiry will report to the General Manager of Railways (Mr G. H. Alackley), who will then present the evidence and their finding for the consideration of the Railways Board. The inquiry hoard visited Poro-O-Tarao to inspect the scene of the derailment and took evidence from all concerned in the happening, at Tattmarunui. It is expected that the report will be forwarded to headquarters to-morrow or Saturday, and it will be considered at the next meeting of the board.
