DEBATING SOCIETY.
The Palmerston North Literary and Debating Society met on Friday, when Mr E. Watson presided. The subject for debate was “That the broadcasting of church services is detrimental to church attendances.” The speakers were Messrs H. G. Mills, A. C. Pliilpott, P. T. Jamieson, JJ. J. King, G. Barker and T. Alby, and at the conclusion of the debate a popular vote declared in favour of the affirmative. The Piccadilly Medal was awarded to Mr 11. G. Mills. At the next meeting a mock city council election will be held.
