Miss Mollie AVischnewsky is a Palmerston North visitor to AA’ellington. Mrs N. Neville, of Foxton, is a visitor to Wellington. Mrs R. Macintosh, of Rongotea, is spending a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs C. Miisen, of Norsewood. Mrs Cornelius, of Pahiatua, is visiting AA’ellington for the conference of the AVomen’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. The AVomen’s Division of the Farmers’ Union this month celebrates the tenth anniversary of its founding. Mrs ’J’. O’Donnell, a highly respeced resident of Stewart’s Line, Awaliuri, passed away a few days ago after a brief illness. The funeral took place at Feilding on Monday. Much sympathy has been extended to the bereaved family. MOTHERS’ UNION. ALL SAINTS’ BRANCH. The All Saints’ branch of the Mothers’ union met yesterday, Mrs G. Y. A\’oodw r ard presiding. The Takaro Dramatic Club presented a play “Mr John,” which was greatly appreciated. The cast was: Airs N. D. Smale (Patricia;, Miss M. Penny (Rosie), Mrs J. L. Merton (Fanny), Airs Young (Hypatia), Airs P. Hall (Mary), Afiss N. Dennan (Josephine), A 1 iss At. Cooksley (Angela), and Air B. Hall (Air John). Airs G. Young (who was the producer of the play) gave pleasure with vocal solos, “Alerrie England”, (waltz song),- and “Ala Curly-headed Baby” (by special request), while Airs Hunt was heard in two enjoyable vocal items, “The' Rose” and “The River and the Sea.” The accompaniste was Airs B. F. Barlow.

Mesdames E. Schwarz and I?. Finch were apointed the Hospital visitors for next month. The hostesses who served afternoon tea, were Mesdames H. Rndeliffe, I). Wheeler, I. Inglis and E. A. Taylor (convener). The speaker at the next meeting will be Rev. H. S. Kenney (Foxton). Mrs AA'oodword proposed the vote of thanks to the Takaro Dramatic Clnb and others who had assisted with the programme. AVOMEN’S DIVISION. REPORT ON FINANCES. AA ELLINGTON, Julv 18. Many remits and a number of otli'ei matters were dealt with a.t the annual Dominion executive meeting _of the AVomen’s Division of the New Zealand farmers’ Union, which was continued yesterday. Mrs AAL H. AVard, Dominion president, was in the chair. Some 230 representatives of branches attended the opening of the conference. The conference was officially opened by Lady Ransom. Mrs J. C. AVickham, Dominion vice-president, presented Lady Ransom with a bouquet. In her report the secretary (Miss C. E. ConnoY) said that membership of the division had again increased, the total being 15,791, an increase of 3000 in the financial membership. Sixty-four senior and five junior branches had been formed in 22 districts. Two provincial executives had been formed. This made a total of 472 branches and 24 provincial • executives, at April 30. Since then a further 11 branches and three provincial executives had been started. The housekeepers’ scheme continued to increase in popularity. At the end of last year the division had 43 registered housekeepers, who had filled 1153 engagements. The treasurer (Mrs J. Row) reported that (lie year’s transactions showed an excess of income of £69 10s for the general account, and an excess of expenditure of £54 12s lid for the community chest account. The net income for the general account was £1714 5s Id, and the expenditure £1415 15s Bd. For the community chest account the net income for the year was £1344 Is 6d, and the expenditure £1398 14s sd. To this account branches had contributed £lOl2 15s 4d, and private persons had given £lO7 3s. For the year the total contributions were £lll9 18s 4d, as against £660 Ins lOd last year. For benevolent work £1056 6s 5d had been spent. Remits rejected were:— “That mid-year executive meetings should be held in each island to take the place of the January executive meeting, and that all remits should he sent to the Dominion office and then forwarded for the consideration of each meeting (Otago): “That a limited number of housekeepers should receive an annua] salary of at least £SO, payable monthly, and that a bonus at the rate of 25s a week be paid for each week in excess of 40 that the housekeeper works.” (January 13. N. and H.A. meeting).” “That a box be held by each branch for the collection of money to be forwarded to district executives and paid to housekeepers in need of relief.” (January N.B. and H.A. meeting). It was decided that only a past president could hold the title of president emeritus for one year arid could vote on the Dominion executive and advisory board. A remit which was adopted unanimously was moved by Mrs AA’. J. Poison on behalf of the executive, “that Mothers’ AA’elfare AVeek should he revived, the dates to include Mothers’ Sunday.” An alteration to the wording on the application form for a housekeeper was made. In future travelling expenses will be paid by the employer to or from the engagement.

WEDDING. . AIAULE—AIcGUIRE. St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, AA’ellington, was the scene recently 0 f the wediding of Evelyn Victoria, younger ! daughter of Air P. McGuire, Roslyn, Dunedin, and John Charles, second son of Air and Airs J. C. Alaule, Haj taita.i, AA’ellington. The ceremony was performed by Canon l’ereival James, 'and Air Robert Parker, C.AI.G.. presided at tho organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a simple gown of parchment satin cut on classical lines. The hemline of the skirt formed a short train, and the long tulle veil, which was worn over the face, fell from a little cap of parchment lace, and formed a second train. She carried a streamer bouquet of cream hyacinths, roses and .maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was Aliss Ruby Robinson, of Dunedin, and two little nieces of the bridegroom, Aliss Heathei Alaule, Palmerston North, and Aliss Edith Stirratt, AA’ellington. were flower girls. As the bride and bridegroom were leaving the church, the bride was presented with two horseshoes of flowers in red and cream, by her little nephews, John Stirratt and Alister Alaule.

GOLF. PALAIERSTON v. LEVIN. A team from the Palmerston North Ladies’ Golf Club met a team from the Levin club, yesterday, at the Te Alatai links. The home team registered wins in all but two games, one of those being halved. The following are the results, the Levin players being mentioned first: Airs Roydhouse lost to Airs A’oss; Aliss Kerr lost to Airs Bott; Airs AlcKenzie lost to Airs AtcAlurray; Aliss Herrick lost to Airs Cook; Airs Hunter beat Airs E. Simpson; Airs Park lost to Airs Bennett; Airs Hosie halved with Airs AVilson ; Aliss N. Park lost to Airs Glondinning; Afiss D.
