ITALY AND ABYSSINIA.
STAGE SET FOR AUGUST? I>ISTUR BING IN DICATIONS. ROME, July IG. Signor Mussolini is expected to make a dramatic appearance before the troops in Africa in August. He will review them and make a number of encouraging speeches before opening the campaign against Abyssinia, which is expected to begin in September. The Rome correspondent ol the Times, a London cable report says, declares: “Official circles emphasise that the new mobilisation illustrates the Government’s determination to follow to the end the pi*.h they have set themselves.” Press comment is also becoming increasingly bellicose. Among comments are the following: “All peace compromises, by whomsoever they are made, will be rejected.” “It is too late now to await a diplomatic solution. The knot can only be cut with the sword.” “The path Italy has traced out for the defence of her colonies can only be guaranteed by arms.” ■ , The submarine decision is also described as showing that Italy is ready for anything. “Above all, the strengthening of our naval armaments means that we are not disposed to submit to any imposition, no matter from which place it may come.”
