The most severe frost recorded in Hamilton this year occurred on Friday morning, when nine degrees were recorded.

There will he a total eclipse of the mhon to-day and, given good weather, the latter part of it will be visible in New Zealand. The new line is over two miles shorter than the existing one, and the maximum heights to which engines have to haul the trains on the respective routes are reduced from 619 feet to 297 feet.
