YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Dealings recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday were confined almost wholly to industrial and trading issues and gold-mining shares. The markets opened somewhat quietly, but quotations showed very littlo change. Thero was again a strong demand for Government loans, hut sellers were reticent. The 4 per cent stock, 1955. was again dealt in. at £lll 15s. Following payment of a halfyear’s interest yesterday, tho 4 per cent bonds and stock, 1937-40, wero marked down 40s to £lO2 5s and £lO2 respectively. Local body and company debentures did not figure in yesterday’s price list. Bank shnres were again a firm market on an active demand. Commercial of Australia were a point up at 16s 9d and Commercial of Sydney advanced Is to £l7 11s. New Zealand moved up to 52s 5d without response. Rcservo Bank were firmer at £6 9s 3d, sellers £6 9s 6d. New South Wales were wanted at £3l 12s 6d. Queensland Insurance were strong at 58s. _ Gas, meat-freezing, shipping, woollen, timber, ami brewery shares showed littlo quotable change. In the miscellaneous section Anthony Hordern sold at 20s, Broken Iliil Proprietary at 59s sd, and Consolidated Brick at 10s Bd. Buyers advanced to £44 for Colonial Sugar. Six sales were recorded in tile gold-mining section. Wailii . going at 37s 6d and Mount Morgan at 375. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
