HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Tho Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated July 13, from the High Commsisioncr for New Zealand, London: — Fruit. —S.S. Mahia discharged _in good condition. Final shipment for this season. Trade slow, but prices reasonably firm at the following rates Apples: Granny Smith, 11s to 16s; Dougherty, 11s to 14s 6d; Delicious, 8s to 14s; Stunner, Hokewood, Jonathan and Glengylc Red, 10s to 13s 6d; Cleopatra and Statesman, 10s to 13s; Scarlet Nonpareil, Rome Beauty and Newtown Pippin, 11s to 12s 6d; Dunn’s Favourite and Pioneer, 10s to 11s 6d Otago: Ex cold store, Statesman and Stunner, 12s to 14s; Delicious, 8s to 14s; Cleopatra, Lord Wolseloy and Newtown Pippin, 11s to 13s. Tallow. —No auction this week; market quiet, with spot and forward quotations nominally unchanged. Hemp.—Manila market firmer. “K” grade for August-October shipment sold at £ls. Sisal market firmer. Good business has been done. Afloat, July-Sep-tomber shipment sold at £l7 ss; August-Oc-tobor shipmont up to £l7 6s 3d; and Oc-tobcr-December shipment up to £l7 _los. New Zealand market quiet and nominal. No first-hand sales reported. THE STOCK MARKETS. Abraham and Williams, -Ltd., report that an average yarding came forward to this week’s Ashhurst sale, the entry being com prised principally of daily cops and springing heifers, also a good yarding of boner cows. Springing cows and heifers met with just fair competition, boners sold at late, rates. Sorno of our realisations were as under: —Springing heifers, £3, £3 ss, £3 7s 6d, £3 10s, £3 12s 6d, £3 15s to £4; springing cows (aged), £2, £2 ss, £2 10s to £3; fat cows, dairy brod, £2, £2 ss, £2 10s, £3, £3 5s to £3 8s; boners, 15s, 17s 6d, 20s, 225, 245, 265,' 28s, 30s. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on a clearing sale held on account of Mr J. Ludeman, Aorangi, Feilding, as under:— An average attendance of buyers was present and we report a good sale for close to profit sorts. Sundries, pigs, etc., sold at late rates. Quotations: —Good quality young cows close to profit, £4, £4 ss, £4 10s, £4 15s, £5, £5 ss, £5 10s, £6, £6 10s to £7 10s; later calving sorts, £3, £3 ss, £3 10s to £4; springing heifers, £3, £3 10s, £3 15s, £3 17s 6d; grade Jersey bulls, £3, £3 ss, £3 10s, £3 15s to £4; one draught mare, all work, £27. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report holding a clearing sale of dairy cows and heifers, account of Mr J. A. Mitchell, Longburn in conjunction with Dalgety and Co., Ltd., on Thursday last. The cows as advertised were a complete herd which Mr Mitchell had purchased back in the month of May from Mr K. G. Dalziell, of Mangaonoho. The heifers were a particularly choico line of well-grown high grade sorts, selected from some of tho best breeders in the Manawatu. Both lots were submitted in the pink of condition and we report a good sale for anything showing well down and close to profit. Some ,of our realisations were as under: —Springing cows, £4, £4 ss, £4 10s, £4 15s, £5, £5 ss, £5 10s, £5 15s, £6, £6 ss, £6 10s. £6 15s to £7; springing heifers two choice heifers realised £7; others, £3 10s, £3 15s, £4, £4 ss, £4 10s, £4 12s 6d £4 15s, £5, £5 ss, £5 7s 6d, £5 10s to £6.
