The letter was read at the board’s meeting yesterday. * The. committee intimated that the following self-explanatory resolutions had been carried “That as the responsibility for the total cost of the nurse has been assumed by the Hospital Board, that part of our activities will no longer- be required, and that this association, as from June 30 next, te designated the ‘Feilding District Relief Committee,’ under the chairmanship of the Mayor ol Feilding. Tho aim of the committee will t>e the amelioration of distress.” “That the Hospital Board he requested to pay to this committee one half of the present value of the car now used by the Feilding District Nurse.” The committee sought- the refund of £2O 15s 4d, being out-of-pocket expenses incurred since April I, the date on which the board had decided to .assume financial responsibility for the district nursing service. “I think the board should place on record the great work done by this committee over a long period of years,” commented the chairman (Mr J. K. Hornblow. “I am very pleased to see that their organisation is to continue for the relief of distress, and we wish them well.” The board, on the motion of Mr A-

E. Mansford, received the letter with regret and decided to place on record its appreciation of the committee's lengthy humanitarian service, also to express the hope that it would receive the continued co-operation of the organisation under its changed title.

The managing-secretary (Mr A. J. Phillipps) said that no ievy had teen made on the contributing local authorities for the cost of district nursing services in the first three months of the financial year, and in any event the hoard had no legal power to make a refund even if it wished to do so. It was decided to forward a letter to the committee pointing out the position.
