TRANSPORT LICENSES.

AUTHORITY’S DECISIONS. The .sitting of the Ng. G Transport Licensing Authority was continued at Palmerston North yesterday, Mr G.'A. Troup presiding. Those associated with him were Messrs W. I. x.Armstrong and S. Jickell. E. R. Shortall (Colyton) requested a renewal of his current license, with an increase in the maximum load of one truck from two to three tons and an extension of another lorry’s district to a larger area of the Rangitikei county. The license was granted accordingly. Bourke Bros. (Apiti), for whom« Mr A. M. Ongley appeared, applied fora renewal of their present one-lorry authority and also for an authority to allow a second lorry to be used in the event of their possibly taking up pig carting in a month’s time. The Authority granted the renewal of the present license, refusing the addition. D. W. L. Davies (Halcomhe) requested a renewal of his present license with a minor increase in the maximum lewd allowed his lorry. The application was granted. C. S. Wycherley (Ashhurst) asked for a renewal of his present license, that being granted. In reply to a question, the Authority stated that no new application was necessary when a partner went out of a firm, such an application being necessary, though, if another jiartner came in. “The Manawatu Standard” and the Manawatu Daily Times were granted area licenses. Child Bros. (Palmerston Nortlj) were granted an area license to embrace the Kairanga, Manawatu, Oroua and Woodville counties to replace their former license for an area specified by a 20-mile radius from Palmerston North. They were also granted permission to carry certain goods in the area south of a line drawn between Waitara and Napier to Wellington. Renewals of current licenses were granted in the following cases:—S. L. Graham (Shannon), T. H. King (Shannon), C. C. Reilly (Rangiwahia), H. G. Bailey (Kawhatau), R. Hook (Shannon) and E. Thomas, formerly Morlcy and Thomas (Shannon).
