AVOODVILLE, . June 21. The Woodville Methodist Women's Missionary Union held an all-day convention on Monday. The morning session commenced in the church, where Rev. G. Knowles-Smith extended a welcome to all present. - There were 33 ladies present, also Rev. Mr McDonald, of Kurupuni, Mastcrton, who led in prayer. Morning tea was handed round and was much appreciated by the visitors, some of whom had come over 50 miles. Study circles were then formed, the loaders being Mrs Terry (Feilding), Mrs Stoekwell (Masterton), Mrs Hutching and Miss Harding (Woodville). At the conclusion, the findings of each circio were. read. All adjourned at 12.30 to the Foresters’ Hall for lunch. At 1.30, all returned to the church for the Communion service, which was conducted by Mr Knowles-Smitli, assisted by Rev. Mr Dudley (Wanganui) and Mr McDonald. A letter of greeting from the Dominion president, Mrs Duke, i was read at the afternoon meeting. | Mrs Richards extended a welcome to i Mr Dudley, the speaker for the after-1 noon. He took for his text, “The | Field is the World,” and his address was listened to with attention. Mrs, Terry, on behalf of the visitors, thank- i ed the Woodville Indies for their hos- , pitality. At the evening service the j opening exercises were taken by Mr J KnowleslSmith and another address was given by Mr Dudley. The judging of the Woodville groups in the Boys’ and Girls’ Boot Club competitions was completed this week. The | attached results show the average yield per acre. Tile wedding was celebrated bv Rev. G. W. Davidson, at Holy Trinity Church, Woodville on Wednesday of Ivy Anne, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. Benson, and Arnold Robert, second son of Mr and Mrs It. T. Mabey, of Woodville. The bridesmaids were Miss Mrytle Benson and Miss Dorothy Mabey. Mr D. Mabey was best man and Mr It. Mabey groomsman.
