GOOD BUTTER PRICES.
A SATISFACTORY POSITION
LONDON, Juno 23.
The butter market at present gives cause for satisfaction. The upward movement, which began several weeks ago, has been well maintained, and New Zealand touched 90s and Australian 87s.
Arrivals are clearing well for, in addition to ordinary purchases for eonsumption. there is considerable speculative activity, which may lie regarded as an indication that traders consider prices likely to advance still further. One reason for the firmness is low production on the Continent, where cold weather has restricted the output and caused a decline in British imports. German purchases ol Dutch blitter have also tended to harden the market. Another reason for the “bullish” sentiment is the decline in quantities afloat from Australia and New Zealand, which have fallen to 679,000 boxes, compared with over a million a year ago
