MR J. BEATTIE DEAD. Per Press Association. GORE, June G. The death has occurred of Mr James Beattie, aged 95. A Southland pioneer, he arrived in New Zealand on 1862 and was one of the founders of the firm of Thomson and Beattie. He was a former Mayor of Gore. . , Mr Beattie had an adventurous career. He came of long-lived stock, his mother’s father dying at the age of 105, an elder sister at the age of 97, and an elder brother at 90.^
