KELVIN GROVE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KELVIN GROVE, June 3. Tl, e fortnightly euchre tournament was held recently and was a success m every way. The tables were tilled and 100 enthusiastic players spent a happy evening. Prizes were awarded to the following: Ladies, Miss A. McLaren (12); men, Messrs R Mercer N. Clinton, and It. I ukiowski, tied with 101 games, Mr Mercer winning the cut* consolations, Miss L. ISewdick («5 2 ) and Mr Penenlum (2|). After supper an old-time dance was held to music supplied bv a professional orchestra and continued till the early hours of the morning. Mr K. Jensen was M.C. On Friday evening a party of 40 Newbury players visited Kelvin Grovo to compete against the local team tor the euclue shield. 0 The visitors proved the victors by 99 games to 81. Supper was supplied by the ladies of the district and was handed round by members of the committee aftc which an enjoyable dance was held to music supplied by Mesdames Laurence Ryan and Shaw and Mr R- Buchanan M II Sliephefd conducted a community sing Mr D Buchanan, on handing the shield to Mr Hansen, congratulated nlavers on their success and voiced the hope that the two teams wou.d have the P>® a = ule nf meeting again in the neui tuiure. Cheers were accorded both teams and Mr Hansen thanked the Kelvin Grove pbaycis for the enjoyable evening they had gnen them. _
