* ELUCIDATION FOR BRITAIN. DOCUMENTS IN LONDON. (British Official Wireless.) •Received June 4, 10.45 a.m. RUGBY, June 3. The replies of the German Government to the inquiries made by the British Ambassador in Berlin for more precise information on several matters dealt with in Herr Hitler’s recent speech have now been received in London, and aro receiving the close attention of the British Government. The German Government’s memorandum on the bearing of the recent Franco-Soviet agreement on tho Locarno Treaty is also being examined by the appropriate Government departments. Herr Von Itibbentrop met the British Ministers this afternoon, when he made courtesy calls on the Foreign Secretary and later met the Prime Minister and the First Lord of tho Admiralty. THE FIGHTING SERVICES. _ AIR FORCES AND NAVIES. GERMAN NEGOTIATIONS. LONDON, June 3. The Daily Telegraph says that Herr Von Ribbentrop, whose status has been enhanced by Herr Hitler’s grant to him of plenitentiary powers, is not only instructed as regards the naval negotiations which are being opened on Tuesday, but ho has full knowledge of Herr Hitler’s views of the air pact possibilities. Germany wishes to make the Locarno Treaty the basis of any international treaty, not the Covenant of the League of Nations- No British Minister is taking part in the naval talks, but in view of the coming naval limitation conference Great Britain will be interested to know tho details of Herr Hitler’s proposed navy The 35 per cent of British tonnage mentioned to Sir John Simon (Foreign Secretary) is three to four times the navy Germany has at present. During the talks with Herr Von Ribbentrop the British Foreign Office wilL be represented by Mr R. L. Craigie, who nas held a number of important diplomatic posts.
