• (From Our Own Correspondent.) j TIAKITAHUNA, March 14. j The monthly meeting of the Tiakitahuna Women s Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs I). Howland presiding* over ; a good attendance of members. Visitors ■ were welcomed and the secretary read the , monthly report and correspondence. Mrs W. Howland and Mrs Igglesden were ap- ] pointed delegates to attend the half- \ yearly council meeting. As it was the an- < nual meeting the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and adopted. ! Thanks were accorded Mrs W. Howland j for the good work she has done in her position as secretary during the past three i years. The following members were elect- | ed for the new committee: —Mesdames D. ! ; Buchanan (vice-president), Richardson j (treasurer), Miss E. McEwen (secretary), 1 Mrs C. Oroucher. Mrs 11. McEwen, Miss i J. Morley and Mrs W. McEwen (conimitI toe). Mrs D. Howland was again elected president. The following duties were allotted: —Mrs F. McEwen (produce table) and Miss M. Rowland (librarian and Press l correspondent). Mesdames H. McEwen and

j D. Howland were appointed delegates to | attend group committee meetings. The ! birthday which is to be celebrated next i month was. discussed and if was decided to j hold a social evening; final arrangements j were left to the committee. The competi- ! tion for the best rnadcirn cake was judged by Mrs Lever and Mrs Davies, senr., and was wen by Mrs Ross, with Mrs D. Buchanan 2nd and Mrs D. Rowland 3rd. The winner of the points prize "was Mrs t>. . Davies 1. Mrs I). Howland being 2nd and I Mrs D. Buchanan 3rd. Afternoon tea was j served by the hostesses, Mesdames C. ! Croucher, IT. McEwen and Miss E. Moj Ev'ctu | The many friends of Mr A. Matheson 1 will regret to learn that he is at present | confined to his bed with a bad attack of ini fluenza and will wish him a speedy rej covery. j Mrs Davies, senr., of Levin, is staying | with her grandson, Mr W. Davies, and Mrs Davies.
