BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Alarch 12. Airs Maruinaru presided over a very largo attendance of members at the annual general meeting of the Bulls Women’s Institute. The reports of the prosident, treasurer, and secretary were adopted. The rotiring president referred to tho successful year just concluding, and thanked all for their assistance. Airs W. A. Churchill was elected president for tho coming year. On behalf of members, Airs Eseott (vice-president) handed a handsome bouquet to Airs Alarumaru. Tho Dominion president (Airs Paterson), • o,f Pahiatua, was present, and gave an interesting address on institute matters. Points prizes for the past year were awarded to Aliss Tfickcr, Aliss Wicks, and Airs C. Button. “Dumb Acting” proved a very amusing competition, and Airs C. Button was adjudged the winner. The entertainment included a musical monologue by Airs Alarumaru, and songs by Alesdames R. G. Cooper and J. S. Tricker. The Town Hall was well filled on Alonday night when a grand community concert was held in aid of tho hall improvement funds. Tho concert was arranged by tho various institutions and sports clubs in Bulls, and tho programme, which was a long and varied ono, found favour with tho audience. Tho programme included a playetto, ‘Mechanical Jane,” by members of tho Bulls Women’s Institute; a soldier sketch, “The New Recruit,” with Alessrs Holland and Signal in leading roles; and sea ’chanties and choruses by the Bulls R.S.A. Aliss D. Sutherland danced Highland flings, accompanied by Air W. A. Sutherland with the bagpipes. Folk dancing by pupils of tho Bulls School was an attractive item, and other pleasing features ■ included songs by Mrs Abraham, Airs Cooper, Miss J. Smith, Air A r Bond, and Alaster Donald Caldow. Master H O’Connell contributed a pianoforte solo, Airs J. 'Dicker an instrumental solo, Alaster Churchill a recitation, and Airs Alarumaru a musical monologue. Mr J Currie amused all with his humour, and also led tho community singing. Hospital advices received yesterday concerning the unfortunate victims of Alonday’s motor mishap are to the effect that both Mr M. Homes and the voutn Arkroyd arc still in a serious condition.
