STRIKES IN CUBA.

NATIONAL PARALYSIS. HAVANA (Cuba), March 8. Employees of the Cuban State- Department have stopped work, leaving only two Government departments operating fully as President Mendietas’s administration took vigorous steps to break the strikes gripping the nation.

Nearly 400,000 school teachers and students from the classrooms are leading the movement for President Mendietas’s overthrow. Street car traffic is almost completely stopped. Newspaper publication has virtually been suppressed by strikes, the employees protesting against Government censorship. No mail is moving, and no Government telegraph office is operating. Bombs exploded in Havana damaging the courthouse and police stations.
