LOAN FOR CHINA
BRITAIN DISAGREES. SCHEME IMPRACTICABLE. DEFLATION AND RISE IN SILVER. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received March 6, 11.50 a.m. LONDON, March 5. The Sun-Herald Service learns that the British Government has dispatched a Note to China, Japan, France, and America intimating that an international loan to China is impracticable. The British Government pessimistically views China's position owing to the severe deflation due to the rise in silver, and can see no prospect of collective or individual foreign assistance if silver continues to rise, as loans under such conditions resemble pouring water down a drain.
